Every fall Anhaeuser Busch celebrates Global Be(er) Responsible Day, and if you’ve been hearing the term float around and have been wondering exactly what that is, you’re not alone. At 5 years old, it’s a relatively new annual event, but it’s an important one – AB InBev has been using Global Be(er) Responsible Day to promote responsible alcohol consumption everywhere they sell their products.
Responsible alcohol consumption means never drinking and driving, and Anhaeuser Busch likes to drive that point home with heartfelt public service announcements (PSAs). They show how irresponsible alcohol consumption and drunk driving can mean a fun night out for you can easily turn into a nightmare for your loved ones.
This year, the Budweiser PSA put out for Global Be(er) Responsible Day hits that message out of the park. How many people really think about what’s waiting for them if they decide to pick up the keys and get behind the wheel while drunk? Since it’s release in mid-September, the video has gone viral and received over 19 million views. Check it out below.
Along with the message to never drink and drive, Anhaeuser Busch funded a survey that showed how adults feel about responsible alcohol consumption. Some of the highlights include:
- More than 30 million adults have their identification checked every day when they’re purchasing alcohol
- One in three adults would be open to receiving responsible drinking tips from the people who serve them alcohol
- Almost half of the adults surveyed are open to suggestions on how to get home safely after drinking
The best public service announcements touch you in a personal way. If the Budweiser PSA gets even one person to put down the car keys and contact a sober driver so they get home safe, it has done its job.
