Public spirit takes many forms. One man in Orangeville is taking steps to making his town safer, and is doing it in his car.
Narinder Paul Singh, owner of the local business Call-A-Limo and a longtime Orangeville resident, is volunteering to drive people home from bars on the weekend, free of charge. His campaign is called Orangeville Against Drunk Driving.
His working method is to visit bars and offer to ride home anyone who needs it. Many people have taken Mr. Singh up on his offer. But there is just so much that one man can do, which is why Singh wants to find volunteers and support to help his organization.
The goal is admirable: that no one in Orangeville be charged with drunk driving in the coming year. In order to make that happen, more drivers are needed. If possible, Singh would like to have the service run seven days a week. Anyone interested in helping out should contact Narinder Paul Singh on 519-943-4900.
All politics is local, and perhaps all public spirit is too. Mr. Singh has found a remarkable way to serve the town he loves. We hope that others in Orangeville step up and help this unusual man achieve his very worthy goal of no drunk driving arrest in the coming year, and every year after that.
