You’re making your list, checking it twice, and out of all the things you have to do this busy holiday season, there’s one task that’s the most important of all: choosing your designated driver. Don’t know a single person who would volunteer to stay sober so everyone can get home safe and sound? There’s no need to worry; Operation Red Nose is back, currently available, and at your service for the entire holiday season.
To use Operation Red Nose, all you have to do is to contact them and a team of three people will come meet you wherever you are. A volunteer driver and navigator will drive your car home with you in the back seat, and a third driver will follow in another car. It’s a win-win for any driver because you get a safe way home after a night of drinking and you don’t have to leave your car in a parking lot somewhere.
This year the holiday ride service is taking their program one step further by getting a tech-influenced leg up on helping intoxicated people get home after a night out at a holiday party. They’ve launched an app that gives you contact information for your local Operation Red Nose and lets you set an alarm reminding you to call them.
Available for both Apple and Android, the app won’t let you book a ride just yet, but as Operation Red Nose continues to see an increase in use, that could happen in the near future. In the meantime, people can still pick up the telephone, find a designated driver, give a donation, and end up safely in their bed after a night out. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect end to a festive holiday evening?
