Every few weeks you find one impaired driving story that sounds too crazy to be true, and this week our story is coming straight from Burlington, Ontario where one man had a night out so wild, it could have be scripted in a movie.
The night in question was two years ago, but time hasn’t diminished the impact of the night when Brock Johnson decided to visit a strip club and drink until the bartender cut him off. When he tried to leave security outside of the building stopped him, and he told them that a stripper was going to give him a ride home.
The stripper didn’t show up to give him a ride, and when he realized she had left the building, he told security he was going to his car for a laptop. That’s when he jumped in and peeled out of the parking lot, driving erratically away from the bar.
Security then called him into the police, and they paid his home a visit shortly after. When they spotted him driving past his house very slowly, they gave chase and followed him through the streets as he drove erratically. He then stopped his car, hopped out, and ran through a townhouse complex. That’s when the police dogs hit the scene, and after they gave chase the police apprehended him.
When he was required to submit to the breathalyzer, they discovered that his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was double the legal limit of .08 and he was charged with impaired driving. He’s already received a one-year drivers license suspension, and the rest of his sentence is still up in the air.
One night is all it takes to change your life forever, and because this case took two years to get to court, he’s already had a long time to rehash the events of that night and wonder where it all went wrong. That’s why it’s always better to skip the risk of drinking and driving and hand your keys over to someone else. You should also line someone up to drive you home before you even start drinking, because the sober driver you choose after you’re drunk may not want to drive you at all.
