We ask people to do a lot of things to prevent drunk driving. Fight for better laws; report drunk drivers; plan your evening out beforehand and arrange a sober ride.
Now we’re asking you to hit a few golf balls. The 22nd annual Drive Straight Golf Tournament takes place on Wednesday, June 22nd. The event raises money to help increase awareness and help prevent drunk driving through the arrive alive DRIVE SOBER campaign.
This year the Drive Straight tournament will take place at the Mandarin Golf & Country Club in Markham. Participants can pay a fee to participate or be a sponsor. There are also opportunities for donations. For more information and registration go to the arrivealive.org site. They also need more sponsors, so give them a call if you are interested in helping this vital cause.
The mission of arrive alive is to eliminate drunk driving in Ontario. It was formed in 1989, and continues to run awareness campaigns around impaired driving issues. They include Operation Lookout, which encourages the public to phone 911 when they see an impaired driver, and the Arrive Alive App, which helps people obtain a safe ride home from a friend or taxi after a night out drinking.
Here’s your chance to get out on the green, and help make Ontario’s roads safer at the same time. And if it means a day out on the golf course, well, some sacrifices have to be made.
